Wedding Photography in Swansea

Swansea and the Gower Peninsula are genuinely some of the most beautiful places to get married anywhere in the UK — I say that as someone who’s spent years exploring both. The dramatic coastline, the wooded valleys, the ancient castles that appear out of nowhere around every corner. When the light hits the Gower on a clear summer evening, there’s nowhere on earth I’d rather have a camera in my hand.

I’m Lewis, a documentary wedding photographer based in Bridgend — around 25 miles east of Swansea — so the city and the peninsula are very much part of my regular working patch. I’ve photographed at Oxwich Bay Hotel, where the beach views are genuinely breathtaking; the wonderfully secluded Fairy Hill in the heart of Gower; the atmospheric ruins of Penrice Castle; and the understated cool of No.6 Gower. Every one of these venues has its own character, and that’s what makes Swansea weddings so varied and exciting to photograph.

Whether you’re planning a barefoot ceremony on the beach or a black-tie dinner in a country house, I’ll be there to document every moment — no staging, no fuss, just honest photography of your day.

What to Expect

My style is documentary. I work quietly alongside you and your guests, watching for the moments that make your wedding distinctly yours — not arranging people or calling out poses, just observing, anticipating, and capturing. The result is a set of photographs that feels real, because it is real. Years from now, when you look back at your Swansea wedding gallery, you’ll see the day as it actually was, not a choreographed version of it.

After your wedding you’ll receive a private online gallery of 400–600 fully edited, high-resolution images, colour-graded in my warm, film-inspired style, delivered within four to six weeks. Full printing rights included. Packages start from £1,050 for full-day coverage from bridal prep through to the first dance, including a personal planning guide to help you make the most of the light at your venue.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far do you travel to Swansea?
I’m based in Bridgend, roughly 25 miles from Swansea — about 30 minutes on the M4. There’s no travel surcharge for any wedding within South Wales, including the Gower Peninsula.

Do you know any good venues in Swansea?
Absolutely. Oxwich Bay Hotel is stunning for a coastal backdrop, and Fairy Hill is one of the most romantic country house venues I’ve ever worked in. Penrice Castle is unlike anything else in South Wales for drama, and No.6 Gower suits couples who want something modern and relaxed with a brilliant natural setting.

How many photos will I receive?
Typically between 400 and 600 fully edited images, delivered in a private online gallery within four to six weeks of your wedding. Full printing rights are included — they’re yours to keep and use however you like.

Wedding Photographer in Swansea & the Gower Peninsula

Swansea and the Gower Peninsula offer some of the most dramatically beautiful wedding settings in the whole of Wales. The Gower was the first place in the UK to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and its coastline, with the golden arc of Rhossili Bay and the wild headlands of the south coast, provides wedding backdrops that are genuinely difficult to match anywhere in the country.

I am based in Bridgend and cover Swansea and the Gower regularly — it is around forty-five minutes from my home to most Gower venues, and I know the peninsula and its light conditions well. Whether you are marrying in the city, on the coast, or in the rolling countryside between the two, I bring the same calm, documentary approach to every wedding I photograph.

Swansea Wedding Venues I Know and Photograph

Oldwalls Gower — One of the most sought-after boutique wedding venues in Wales, set in the heart of the Gower with views across Loughor Estuary. Tipi and barn spaces, beautiful grounds, and a relaxed, personal atmosphere. Exceptional for natural light photography.

Fairy Hill, Reynoldston — A country house hotel in the middle of the Gower, with beautifully restored interiors and walled gardens. One of Wales's most elegant small wedding venues and an absolute pleasure to photograph.

Grand Hotel Swansea — Swansea's grandest hotel, with seafront views over Swansea Bay, impressive ballroom spaces, and an art deco character that photographs beautifully.

Oxwich Bay Hotel, Oxwich — Set directly above one of the most beautiful beaches on the Gower, with sea views from virtually every angle. A relaxed, coastal atmosphere that is perfect for natural, outdoors-focused wedding photography.

I also cover weddings further west in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire — please get in touch if your venue is beyond the Gower and I will quote travel accordingly. Most Swansea and Gower venues fall within my standard travel inclusion.
