10 Best Wedding Venues Near Bridgend for 2025 & 2026

Choosing the right wedding venue is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make when planning your day — and it’s one that shapes everything from the photography to the atmosphere. As a wedding photographer based in South Wales, I’ve had the privilege of shooting at dozens of venues across Bridgend, the Vale of Glamorgan, Gower, and beyond. Here are the ten venues I’d personally recommend to any couple getting married near Bridgend in 2025 or 2026.

1. Hensol Castle, Vale of Glamorgan

Hensol Castle is one of the most photographically spectacular venues in South Wales. The grand castle exterior, sweeping grounds, and formal gardens make it ideal for dramatic portraits and wide-angle ceremony shots. I never tire of shooting here — no matter the season, there’s always something breathtaking to work with.

2. Coed-y-Mwstwr, Coychurch

Just a short drive from Bridgend town centre, Coed-y-Mwstwr is a converted Victorian hotel nestled in woodland. It has a wonderfully intimate feel, and the surrounding trees create beautiful natural framing for outdoor portraits. If you want a venue with real character and seclusion without travelling far, this is hard to beat.

3. Fairyhill, Gower

Fairyhill is a boutique country house set in the heart of the Gower Peninsula — relaxed, beautifully kept, and full of personality. The secluded gardens are perfect for natural, unposed photography, and the smaller guest numbers mean every moment feels personal. It photographs beautifully in every light.

4. Rosedew Farm, Llantwit Major

This converted barn venue sits in the coastal Vale of Glamorgan, not far from the heritage coastline. Rosedew Farm has a warm, rustic feel that works wonderfully for natural documentary photography. I love the way the evening light falls across the courtyard here during golden hour.

5. Llanerch Vineyard, Hensol

Llanerch offers something genuinely unique for South Wales — a working vineyard as your backdrop. The south-facing terrace, rustic estate buildings, and surrounding vines create a continental feel that photographs beautifully. Couples who want something a little different from the traditional castle or barn will love it here.

6. Pencoed House, Bridgend

A historic country house situated close to Bridgend, Pencoed House features elegant walled gardens that are a dream for outdoor portraits. It’s a refined, understated venue that suits couples who want beauty without the grandeur of a full castle — and it photographs consistently well in every season.

7. Oldwalls Gower, Gower Peninsula

Oldwalls offers couples a choice of tipi and barn settings against the sweeping backdrop of the Gower countryside. The natural setting and flexible structures make it a favourite for couples who want something relaxed and outdoorsy. Golden-hour shots at Oldwalls are genuinely some of my favourites.

8. Cardiff City Hall

If you’re drawn to urban grandeur, Cardiff City Hall is hard to match. The marble halls and civic architecture create a spectacular setting for formal portraits, and the surrounding civic centre offers numerous outdoor photography spots. It’s a bold, elegant choice for couples who want something distinctly different.

9. Fonmon Castle, Barry

Fonmon is a medieval castle near Barry that has been in private hands for centuries — it has history and character in every corner. The surrounding grounds offer wonderful variety for photography, and the nearby South Wales coastline adds an extra option for adventurous couples wanting something beyond the castle walls.

10. The Great Barn, Llanblethian

Tucked in the countryside near Cowbridge, The Great Barn is a beautifully restored rustic venue with exposed stone walls, wooden beams, and all the warmth you’d want from a barn wedding. It has an unpretentious charm that photographs naturally and beautifully — one of my personal favourites for documentary-style coverage.
